Rules to play Antakshari

1. Beginning of the game

The game is started with a poem, song, or shloka. Usually the game starts with lines like “Songs of the past” and it is – “Baithe Baithe Bore Hue Karna hai kuch kaam… Shuru karo Antakshri Leke prabhu ka naam.” This ends with “m” hence the first song would start from letter m and team has to sing a song that starts from letter “m”.

2. Last letter to next song

The last letter of a song sung by one team becomes the first letter of the song of the other team. So if in a team, the songs end with letter “b”, then other team has to sing a song that starts with letter “b”.

3. Time limit

Each team is given a fixed time limit (e.g.45 seconds or 1 minute) to sing the song. The team has to start singing a song within this time frame otherwise they will lose. This is just like the Kaun Banega Crorepati, where a player has to answer regarding question within 30 or 45 seconds else the game will end.

4. The song must be correct

The song sung must be original and no wrong words should be added to it. The lyrics of song should be as per the original song and you should sing it in same style without manipulating the tone. The song can be too old or classic, or any local song. You can even sing a modern or remix song in any language like Hindi, English, Punjabi etc

5. No repetition of song

Repeating a song sung earlier is considered a violation of the rules. You can’t repeat a song again and again… each time new song will be sung by the team or players!

How to Play Antakshari?

So as you aware of Antakshari rules, you first decide who will be in your team or who will be in other team. Its best if you are in office function or wedding event… keep all girls in one team and all boys in another team. In office parties, you can even create a Team A of junior and Team B of seniors.

So once the team A and B ready to play, the host or any one can start the game by singing an Antakshari basic song which is “Baithe Baithe Bore Hue Karna hai kuch kaam… Shuru karo Antakshri Leke prabhu ka naam.”

The first team will sing a song from the letter M and when they finish it team B will have to sing a song from the letter where the first song ended. In this way the challenge will be given to each other and if any team fails to sing the song on the last letter within given time frame then the other team will be considered the winner and will be given the prize.

Note: There is time limit of 45 seconds and if it ends then other team gives 10 seconds of grace time by counting tick tick 1, tick tick 2, tick tick 3, tick tick 4 and so on till tick tick 10.

So this is quite interesting game, and you can have fun with friends and family members. You can even play this game in bus during picnic hours. The team selection is even quite easy – the left side lane is Team A and right side land is Team B and here the fun begins and you can spend good time.
