- Leader: The job of a leader is to call out the names of flying and non-flying objects. For this he can use a finger, if he raises his finger in the air… it means he has indicated flying. This indication can be wrong or right and you have to be attentive to make sure whether the name spoken is right or wrong. That means whether it can fly or not!
- Player: Players are part of this game and they have to react quickly to the name spoken. If they react quickly and it is correct, they are safe, but if they miss and react incorrectly they will be punished and one last thing you must remember that the mistake can be made by one or more players.
- Objective: The leader names various objects, animals, or birds and says “Udd” (flies) while simultaneously raising a finger. This can be like Chidiya udd, tota udd, kuta udd, pen udd, pencil udd…. The other players must also raise their fingers only if the named object actually flies.
Example 1: Suppose you are leader, and you say Chidiya udd , Tota udd, Hathi udd (Elephant)… here if upon saying Hathi udd, the players don’t raise their finger, then it is safe and you can continue and call the name of other objects.
Example 2: Suppose you are the leader and you say bird fly, parrot fly, elephant fly… Here if the player or any player raises his finger on saying elephant fly, then the particular player is considered out and here namak mirach masala is played where the losser will join both hands in namste shape and other player will hit one by one.
This part makes the Chidiya Ud game even more interesting. The loser has to show how fast he is. The aim of the other players is to slap the hands which are in the shape of Namaste (Horizontal), while the aim of the loser is to keep both hands safe from the slaps and for this he can pull the hands back or up or down.

The rules of this game is very simple. This game just need your attention and activeness. Even if you loss or guess wrong then still you need to be alert. Let’s learn about some rules:
Rule 1: If the leader says “Chidiya Udd” (Bird flies) or “Tota Udd” (Parrot flies), everyone raises their finger. The one who doesn’t raise, he/she considered out.
Rule 2: If the leader names something that doesn’t fly, like “Hathi Udd” (Elephant flies), players should not raise their fingers. In this case, if any player raise the finger, he/she considered out.
Rule 3: If a player raises their finger at the wrong cue or doesn’t raise it at the correct one, they are out or may lose points.
Rule 4: Namak, Mirch, Masala game will be played with Loser. The player who got out, he will now join hands in namaste shape (horizontal direction), and other player try to slap directly or indirectly like ye gyaa namak, ye gai ji mirch… ye gaya masala… de thappad!!
Rule 5: In the Salt, Pepper, Masala game, if a player gets slapped, this part continues until the player saves his hand from the slap.
Rule 6: While playing the game, the leader can try to trick players by naming flying and non-flying objects quickly in succession to confuse them. The leader can raise finger or avoid it upon calling each name, the leader is not obligated to point a finger regardless of whether the object flies or not.
