The Men’s T20 world cup 2026 is over and India won the final by 96 runs. India defeated New Zealand in the final match and lift the world cup trophy once again. This is first time ever in t20 world cup history that a country won the world cup back to back. India last won in 2024 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and now India won again in 2026 under the captaincy of Surya Kumar Yadav.
This was the 10th edition of Men’s T20 world cup. 20 Teams participated in this tournament and Top 8 teams (Ind, Pak, Eng, NZ, WI, SA, SL, Zim) played Super 8. Bangladesh was not part of this tournament and Australia did not qualify for Super 8. The super 8 was too and only 4 teams India, New Zealand, South Africa, and England qualified for Semi-Finals!
Up to this level England and South Africa was too strong as they were on top and didn’t lose any game in Super 8 T20 WC. But both teams lost to India and New Zealand in the semi-finals. Semi Final 1 (SA vs NZ) won by New Zealand and Semi Final 2 (Ind vs Eng) won by India and now the final was between India and New Zealand.
As per history of T20 World cup… India never won a match against New Zealand. So it was like New Zealand will win this World cup and secure 1st title… but here the math and analysis failed and India defeated New Zealand in the final and won the T20 World cup title for 3rd time (2 times back 2 back).
