6 Teams Are in Group B of the Women’s T20 World Cup

Which 6 teams are in Group B of the Women’s T20 World Cup?

The ICC has finally released the full schedule for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, happening in England from June 12 to July 5. We have seen the graphics, we have seen the fixtures. But let me tell you—don’t just look at Group A where India is clubbed with Pakistan. Look at Group B,  where teams like England, New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Ireland, and Scotland face off each other to qualify for Knockout stage.

As compared to Group A, the Group B of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 looks bit easy. In this group, 3 teams (Eng, NZ, WI) are strong, Sri lanka is mild, and Ireland & Scotland are the weak teams. But let’s be honest. Listing names is easy. I want to tell you why this group is a problem for the big teams. And I am saying this based on the ground reality, not just ICC press releases.

Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 – Group B Teams Analysis

The English Team (Host)

England is in group B and it is the host nation. All matches of Women’s T20 WC 2026 are scheduled to play in England and Wales and for this reason, England has the advantage of home ground and conditions.Women’s team of England also won the T20 World Cup title once in 2009 (Host Nation England), and here they can make it again. So this team has a lot of playing experience and also benefit of home conditions + a solid winning strategy and that’s why it is a one of the strongest contenders of Group B.

According to the schedule released on February 24 by ICC, in the opening match England Women will face Sri Lanka Women at Birmingham on June 12, 2026. This team could remain in second place in the Group B points table, while the Kiwi team is likely to secure the top spot.

The Qualifiers’ Spirit

Here is the practical fact that many “expert panels” miss. Ireland and Scotland did not get a free pass. As stated in the ICC media release, they earned their spot via the Qualifier in Nepal . When a team comes through the mud of qualifying, their mindset is different. They are match-hardened.

I have always said many times that experience matters more than stats. Look at the data: This is the biggest field in the tournament’s history—12 teams . The days of easy games for top sides are gone.

The Kiwi Factor

Defending champions New Zealand are also in Group B. This is the team that deserve at #1 in Group B and the reasons are – champions mind set, 2 times runner up, and a balanced team. As per cricket experts, among top 3 – New Zealand will be at 1st spot, England at 2nd, and West Indies at 3rd.

Well, New Zealand will start their title defense against West Indies on June 13 at Southampton . West Indies, the 2016 winners. That would be a high voltage match and this will decide who will be in the top 2.

What is the real story here?

While everyone is busy selling tickets for India vs Pakistan in Birmingham (June 14) for Women’s WC 2026, the real race will happen in Group B. You have England’s fast bowlers, New Zealand’s discipline, and the power-hitting of West Indies. The matches of NZ vs WI (June 13), Eng vs WI (June 24), and Eng vs NZ (June 27) would be full of fun and thrill.

So don’t miss them and also do not ignore Sri Lanka. The opening match of Women’s T20 World cup will be played between England and Sri Lanka on June 12, 2026 at Edgbaston.

Final Words

  • The Big Guns: England, New Zealand, West Indies.
  • The Fighters: Sri Lanka.
  • The New Entrants: Ireland and Scotland (They play each other on June 13 at Old Trafford) .

In my analysis, Group B is more unpredictable than Group A. Because in T20 cricket, anyone can beat anyone. And with the pitches in England offering swing and seam (as we have seen in the past), the team with the better fast bowling will win the game and title.

Keep your eyes on June 13, when Scotland takes on Ireland. That match will set the tone for who goes to the semifinals from this group. You can watch live action of Women’s T20 World cup 2026 on Star Sports and Jio Hotstar in India from 12 June to 5 July. So don’t miss and share it with others!
